We will soon see, but given Glick reported that we were close to bringing in a DOF, wonder why its taking so long.

He was singing Glick's praises on Radio Derby, saying that everyone at the club has a huge amount of respect for the amount of work he puts in day in day out working his ass off, and he has never had an altercation with him before.
Rumours that Tom Glick conducted that interview himself are untrue may i add.

It says pretty much the same thing in todays DT too JW. Clough says talk of this 'collision with Glick is over the top'. That's fine then - but it's not really a denial either. Watch this space...

The Watford Observer understands Derby County’s pursuit of Ross Wilson has ended after the Hornets' football business director indicated to the Rams that he sees his future at Vicarage Road.

Watford's Harefield Academy was a big attraction for Wilson when he arrived last summer and with the Scot heavily involved in the club’s preparatory work for their EPPP proposals, alongside head of Academy Nick Cox, a move away from the club so soon after his arrival always seemed unlikely.

Derby have made it clear they are looking to strengthen their football business operations, however Rams’ boss Nigel Clough is said to be unhappy about a proposed role.

Wilson has been linked with the Derby post on a few occasions in recent months, with the Daily Mirror this week claiming the Championship club hoped to secure the former Falkirk man before the end of the season.

i am sure i posted earlier on in this discussion that i had heard down here a couple of weeks ago that i didnt think we would be able to get this guy (i live nearish to watford) and that he was staying at Watford. really highly regarded by the people at Watford which i suppose is backed up by the comments under the story in the watford observer online newspaper

disapointed to be honest as this seemed like a really ambitious appointment for us of someone that is rated highly

He is seemingly rated highly in the business side of football but when cash is as tight as it seems to be, I think he'd have to be able to double up as a right back before Nige would want to see what I'd imagine would be 2k a week, spent on someone to strengthen "operations"

I might be old fashioned, but I think we'd get more out of chucking 2k a week extra on a proper midfield generals salary than we would a director of football.

Wonder if it was NC's agent (if he has one) who "leaked" this story to the Mirror?

I know everyone is thinking the negative side of the DOF position and that Clough would walk if he come. How about if it was the other way round, what if it is that he would walk unless someone came into that position who could negotiate his deals and get the players he wants.

Just chucking that out there.

Could be GSE's way of forcing Clough out without sacking him and paying him off.............

Haha! Kin hell!

Derby can't even persuade a man to come to Derby who's job it will be to persuade players to come to derby.

Lol! Catch 22 or what!

he was probably wondering how he supposed to convince players to sign for less than they would get doing a paper round

Or just maybe he didn't fit the role that TG wanted him, it did state that Derby ended their interest. TG could have just approached him to see what he actually did and would expect to do at Derby.

I definatly think TG needs help, think we have been poor in our transfer dealings since AP left, and I feel that NC says who he wants in or out and expects the club to do it.

In perfect world I would like to see a quality DOF in the club releasing Glick making more money through sponsors and partnerships and Clough concentrating on imroving the players and our game.
