Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson is a loan target for three Championship clubs next month as he seeks regular first-team action after finding his opportunities limited at Old Trafford.

Burnley, Derby County and Bristol City are all interested in trying to bring in the Republic of Ireland international during the next transfer window. Gibson suffered damage to his ankle ligaments in August and has made only one appearance for his club this season, in the surprise 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup quarter-final last month.

Gibson, 24, is a possible starter for United's reserve team in their match against Liverpool at Altrincham tonight. Several scouts, including representatives of the three Championship clubs, are likely to be present, although any loan deal will probably be dependent on United agreeing to pay a substantial part of Gibson's wages.

Blackburn, Aston Villa and Sunderland had all expressed an interest in Gibson during the summer transfer window but his chances of securing a Premier League move in August were ended by the ankle injury.

Yes, please. A goalscoring midfielder.

He wouldn't come to Derby though, would he?

I'm shocked he's 24, thought he was 22.

Doubtful. He'd probably sniff his nose at a move to a championship team.

No thanks. What a **** he is.

Poor player like Green bundle Gibson out of Irish national team.

Not looking good for me. Move on.

Was speaking to a Utd fan yesterday talking about injuries and how they are so short in centre mid with Fletcher, Cleverly, Anderson out - his assessment was that no matter how bad it got there is still no way they would/could play Gibson - that being said our standards/requirements are not at nearly the same level. Can't see it happening though, a prem club would likely take him on loan and that would make more sense.

Average in a Man Utd team. Doesn't sound too bad to be honest.

Not sure if this is the kind of person I would like as not sure he is that good when I have seen him. I would rather sign Mcgugen on a perm then pay prob as much in wages towards Gibsons loan deal for the second half of the season

I suppose Gibson on loan would be ok, its been said above, average in the prem would be acceptable for us.

It would make a change to take someone from a big prem club instead of us signing cast offs from our smaller, cash-strapped, east midlands rivals, (like Ben Davies, Tom Naylor and Lewis McGugan). :D

Darron Gibson is vastly hated by Man Utd supporters for being shite, I wouldn't mind him on loan as Green as already made his intentions clear and we'd grab Gibson for less money also.

Not sure this is the centre midfielder we need though.

Any day of the week, I actually really like Gibson, not sure why united fans dislike him so much. Everyone thought Fletcher was average but has proved to be quite important when played.

Gibson at Derby wont happen, But if it did I would be overjoyed.........I like him (Louis Walsh accent)

Would be a good signing, not progressed in recent years however to be a bad/average player at Man U means your going to be an average/good signing for anyone in Championshi!! Saying all that he wont come here, hope I'm wrong.

Would be a good signing but i wouldnt want him hear if hes just injured and wants to get back playing, just like James Vaughan, But would be great if we can snap him up permanently.

I'd consider him to be more creative than our midfielders. With Gibson Green Hendrick Bryson and Bailey to choose from in the centre of midfield, there would be plenty of depth and more competition.

Isn't he supposed to be rubbish and just shoots all the time. One flies in eventually and suddenly pundits say he has a shot on him?

Dunno. How rubbish is a rubbish Man Utd player?

Would live him here. Always been impressed with him, he's just nowhere near first team material for United.

I think we'd get the nod over Bristol.
