Strange move putting Brayford in midfield (better than centre half though I suppose). Doesn't sound like he was too impressed with Hendrick. Always seems to be the way when players sign new contracts!

Tbf we didnt play that bad. Their goalie got MOTM so we were obviously getting into good positions, but just couldn't get the ball in the net.

What I was able to get from that interveiw, is that Nigel wants the ball played through the midfield, and not hoofed up forward to a single player. So it would appear that it's not completely Nigels fault of the way we play.

It just shows how good clough is at getting the players do what he wants. He can say he wants that but when watching him on the touch line he doesn't ever moan about them hoofing it.

So Shackell just decided to go upfront on his own accord? Tyson and Ward just stood up there as well? He's feckin manager, if he cant get the players to play a style he wants then what the f*cks he doing.

How can people say they want a creative right winger, and then moan about the second(joint) most creative player who happens to be a right winger.

What you numpties want is someone that runs at players, like ward. NOT a creative player, because you've rubbished our 'creative' player because of the lack of running at players, and you can't argue that!

I would of stuck with Ben Davies, he can create chances, that is what we need... <_<

He doesnt really create though does he, as Ive put before you can throw stats at me all you like but an assist can be passing it to a player who then beats 3 men and smashes it in from 30 yards. Clearly he has been poor thats why he was dropped on sat. He isnt even getting his set pieces right at the moment which he is pretty much in the side for. I agree you dont have to beat a man to be creative (but it does help if a winger can) but he we dont exactly see any defence spiltting passes from him and he isnt getting many crosses in as once anyone gets tight on him he hasnt got a clue, he just keeps falling over trying to get a free kick.
How many assists does he statistically have as ive been through the match reports and found about 5.

DEFEAT against Ipswich Town proved painful in more ways than one for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick.

Hendrick was helped off in the closing minutes with a worrying ankle injury and also found himself on the receiving end of stinging criticism from Nigel Clough.

The Rams manager was not happy with the 19-year-old's performance as the Rams lost 1-0 to a controversial goal from Keith Andrews at Portman Road on Saturday.

"I think it is his ankle," said Clough when asked about Hendrick's injury, before he added: "but I don't think he (Hendrick) played very well. I thought he was off the pace again, which was disappointing.

"He looked a lot older than his 19 years, physically. He looked quite lethargic.

"He's been off it for the last few weeks, generally speaking, probably since everybody started talking about him and his new deal."

Clough also said another of the three central midfielders, James Bailey, was not as good as he had been in the previous game against Bristol City.

Bailey was replaced after 64 minutes at Ipswich.

Hendrick, who recently signed a new contract until 2015, went down injured in Derby's area about two minutes from the end of normal time.

He received treatment before he was carried round the pitch .

Hendrick has featured in all 22 League games this season and has started 19.

Clough was full of praise for another of Derby's young players, striker Callum Ball.

He made his first start of the season following his first senior goal in the victory over Bristol City a week earlier.

"I thought Bally was very good, especially in the first half," said Clough.

"His hold-up play was good.

"He put himself about and gave the centre halves an uncomfortable afternoon, so we are very pleased with him."
